Local Superheroes rappel 20-storeys and help raise over $170,000 for Easter Seals in BC

VANCOUVER, BC - The British Columbia Lions Society for Children with Disabilities is pleased to announce that the third annual Vancouver Easter Seals Drop Zone event held on September 17th raised an amazing $170,668.64 in support of the BC Lions Society’s Easter Seal programs and services.

Over 70 participants from across the Lower Mainland took up the Drop Zone challenge and raised a minimum $1500 in donations to rappel down 20-storeys at 999 West Hastings (AXA Place).

"The Easter Seals programs and children are so deserving of our efforts. I was honored to participate; it's such a great reason to hurl yourself down a building! Like most good fundraisers, my sponsors are the ones to thank. They really make the programs happen," says top fundraiser Jay Garnett.

The top 3 fundraising Superheroes were:

Jay Garnett, President, Whitefish Group $7116
John Doyle, Associate Investment Advisor, CIBC Wood Gundy $5065
Jan Ticknor, Delta Extreme Adventurers $3690

"The success of this event can be attributed to the enthusiasm and dedication of rappellers, donors and sponsors. Their passion and desire to help make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities is what made this event a great success," says Stephen J. Miller, President of the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities.

"Polaris Realty Canada Ltd. was very pleased to partner with Easter Seals on this year's extremely successful event at 999 West Hastings. It's an incredible cause and we look forward to being the Drop Zone building sponsor again in 2008," says Douglas Hume, Vice President of Polaris Realty Canada Ltd.
