Glenn Wong, B. Comm, Mentor
Glenn Wong is a third generation Vancouverite. His grandmother was born in Vancouver in the 1890’s. He graduated from UBC in 1980 with a B.Comm majoring in Organizational Behaviour and Industrial Relations Management with aspirations of becoming a labour negotiator. He never made it.
Instead, he was recruited in his graduating year, by Procter and Gamble and moved to Toronto. He finished with P & G as a brand manager in the marketing department. Glenn returned to Vancouver with Nabob Foods and continued with that company for 9 years, rising to Vice President of Marketing.
His first President and CEO job was with BC Hot House which went on to become the largest hydroponics vegetable producer in North America. This was accomplished with award winning marketing programs and a strategic focus that changed a commodity in to a branded product.
Glenn was recruited to join Rogers Communications by none other than Ted Rogers where he became the President of Rogers Cable TV for BC.
Following Rogers, Glenn joined Electronic Arts as the President and General Manager of the Canadian operations…the largest videogame studio in the world. In Glenn’s 3 years at EA Canada, it grew from 220 employees to 750.
Outside of his corporate career, Glenn has served on the boards of ICBC, Mohawk Oil, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. – an ethnic community service organization, Coast Capital Savings Credit Union, The Vancouver Police Board, The BC Cancer Foundation, and UBC’s Sauder School of Business Advisory Board. He is an active member of the World President’s Organization and the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Personal interests include golf, playing ice hockey and rooting for the Canucks.
